Entry 71, Two Lives

I have been living in the bicultural background for almost all my life. Being in an American school has been very fun, experiencing both sides of the world and seeing the differences between each. I believe that I have been effected most by my Chinese side of the family because everything I do today, revolves around it. I use the language of Chinese at home, I eat Chinese cuisines, and I celebrate Chinese festivals and holidays. The American side of me is just the side I study in, I go to school and I learn the language. This is what I thought of when I was growing up, but now as I get older and older, I realized that the American side is dominating my Chinese side, making a more equal division among the two cultures. I realized I speak English as my primary language, use forks rather than chopsticks and much more that I have changed just because I have been influenced by my school. I think if I were to be a writer, the American side of me would come out more, as I express my self better through the language of English and I think more in English than I do in Chinese.
